The attorney general of Papua New Guinea, Francis Damem, has apologised for his comments about the Bougainville draft constitution which prompted the government to suspend him.
Mr Damem had told a conference in Australia that the document was flawed and not compatible with the national constitution.
But Mr Damem has now apologised to the bipartisan committee.
The minister in charge of Bougainville affairs, Sir Peter Barter, says he accepts the apology.
Meanwhile, Sir Peter is yet to give details of the second draft.
An announcement was due this week but has been put off to allow for further consultations with Bougainville leaders.
