Indonesian police say Papua rebel attack kills one person

Indonesian police in Papua province say a person has been shot dead and three others including a policeman wounded in a suspected attack by rebels of the Free Papua Movement.

Police say the attack occurred in a remote village in the Sugapa sub-district in the mountainous interior of the province.

According to the Australian AAP news agency police say the victims are mainly from Sulawesi province.

Police also say five other workers are missing but it is not known whether they were kidnapped.

The workers were reported to be building a residential complex when a group of about 10 armed rebels attacked them.
