The Vanuatu government has rejected media claims that a review is being held of the performance of the new police commissioner, Robet Diniro, who was appointed this year.
A government spokesman, Daniel Bangtor, says there is a general review of the police as part of an Australian-funded project but that is not related to any individual.
Vanuatu has had a series of commissioners in the past year over a previously bungled appointment process.
But Mr Bangtor says there are no issues with Mr Diniro who has been appointed for four years.
"After two years there's a review. Unfortunately as it is now the police service commission has not been able to come up with a mid term review agreement but of course they still have to come up with it. Now this is where all the misunderstandings have come up."
