10:37 am on 18 August 2003

Health officials in the Cook Islands have promised to draw up a five year development plan,

The acting Health Secretary, Adi Narayan, says the plan will be based on top of a helth sector review completed in 2000.

Mr Narayan says 90 per cent of the 60 recommendations in the review have been completed.

However annual reports from the ministery have not been tabled in parliament for the last ten years so what was involved in that action has not been revealed.

Mr Narayan says the head of the ministry has been preparing annual reports for the Publis Service Commission and a copy is forwarded to the Minister of Health.

He says if the minister chooses not to table the ministry's annual reports then it is not their problem.
