The Catholic Bishops Conference in Papua New Guinea says the Government in Gulf Province must explain why it is redirecting education funds to other areas.
The local media have reported that the Province is using school subsidies for what it calls other areas of priority.
But Lawrence Stephens, the general secretary of the Bishops Conference says schools in Gulf Province have suffered serious neglect in recent years.
He says it is not satisfactory for a government to say that fund provided for eduation have been redirected.
