The Solomon Islands finance minister, Snyder Rini, says his government has so far resisted what he calls suggestions from Australia to give line positions within the ministry to Australian officials.
The Australian-led intervention force deployed last week is to restore law and order in the country and protect the government against extortion attempts.
But Mr Rini says cabinet is yet to decide how much control it wants to give Australia.
"we have to submit our request in what area we need. It is not for them to come and say okay we are coming in this and that. What we are proposing is that we will identify areas that we want them to assist in."
