Police in Fiji say people in the country need to plan and manage their time carefully if an alarming jump in fatal car accidents is to be addressed.
The road toll so far this year has reached 32, with seven lives claimed in just over a week.
Police spokesman, Mesake Koroi, says the latest spate of deaths is concerning, particularly as the number of deaths for the month is already just four short of the record July total.
Mr Koroi says the majority of deaths are caused by vehicles speeding and he says people need to manage their time better.
"For example if they are trying to catch a plane out of Nadi and they live in Suva, normally the drive takes about three hours, but sometines they leave it too late and speed all the way down to Nadi only to find they end up in a road mishap"
Mesake Koroi says drink-driving is the other issue that needs to be looked at.
