Former PNG defence minister to be dismissed from parliament

Papua New Guinea's leadership tribunal has recommeded the immediate dismissal of MP Mao Zeming for breaching the leadership code.

Mr Zeming, who is a former defence minister, was found guilty of misusing millions of kina by paying public funds to companies controlled by his associates.

The tribunal concluded that he was unworthy to continue in office and should be dismissed.

The verdict has been given to the governor-general to be signed to make the dismissal effective.
