Solomons government changes venue for MSG meeting

7:18 am on 28 June 2003

The Solomon Islands government has agreed to a request from the Papua New Guinea government that it move the venue for next month's meeting of the Melanesian Spearhead Group.

The PNG government had security concerns about the meeting venue in Gizo in Solomons Western province which borders the PNG province of Bougainville.

The summit will now be held in the capital, Honiara, and MSG leaders will only go to Gizo for their retreat.
