The budget this week will allocate two million dollars to set up a new Pacific Security Fund.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Phil Goff, said the one off payment would be used to address external threats to Pacific Island countries and risks to New Zealand's interests in the region.

The Pacific Security Fund will use the money in areas such aviation security, customs and immigration.
