One of two brothers charged with the murder of a Japanese tourist in New Caledonia has been freed on bail after an appeal court hearing in Noumea.
Ambroise Konhu had been held in custody since May last year with his brother Antoine for the murder of 28 year old Mika Kasuma on the Isle of Pines.
The Japanese woman's body was discovered in undergrowth, partially-clothed and burnt on May 6th last year.
Police believe she died after being battered to death with rocks.
Konhu was released, pending trial for the murder, at a hearing yesterday(wed).
The court ordered Konhu must comply with strict bail conditions ahead of the trial and has banned him from visiting the Isle of Pines.
His brother remains in jail.
