Fiji police have arrested three villagers in Ra for dismantling the house of an ethnic Indian family and forcefully evicting them from their farm.
The two young men and their father are reported to have gone to the house of 52 year old Farouk Ali armed with cane knives.
They dismantled the house and ordered the Ali family to leave even though they had a valid lease from the Native Lands Trust Board.
All three have been charged with criminal intimidation and forcible entry and released on bail.
The arrests are seen as rare because Fiji police usually do not intervene in matters regarding indigenous land.
