A fierce typhoon has hit the US territory of Guam in the north Pacific.
Local reports say the governor has declared a state of emergency and called out the national guard.
The Australian Associated Press says Typhoon Pongsona has winds of 203 kilometres per hour gusting to 250 kilometres per hour.
More than 2,000 people are said to have taken refuge in shelters.
There are early reports of some injuries and widespread minor damage.
