Policeman and civilian die after attack in Solomon Islands Weather Coast

A Malaitan police-man who was killed on the Weather Coast will be buried in the Solomon's capital, Honiara, today.

Relatives of the man confirm his body was taken to Matariu settlement yesterday afternoon to be with family.

The Solomon Islands police have confirmed that two men, the constable and a civilian assisting the police, died as a result of injuries received when followers of the rebel leader, Harold Keke, ambushed them on Friday evening.

The Acting Police Commissioner, John Homelo. said the officer of the Star Division died bravely and honorably fighting to restore peace and justice to the people of Weather Coast.
