12:41 pm on 22 November 2002

A Cook Islands cabinet minister, Peri Vaevae Pare, will be the first to meet his constituency to get input on what political reforms people want.

The minister is holding a public meeting in his Rarotonga constituency of Matavera tonight.

A local newspaper quotes him as saying that the defenition of what political reform means should come from the people, not political leaders.

Mr Vaevae Pare has indicated he favours reducing the five year term of parliament to three years and an early general election.
