The Solomon Islands commissioner of police, Morton Sireheti, has resigned from his post.
The deputy commissioner of police, Wilfred Akao, confirmed the resignation saying that the Prime Minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza had informed him of the decision.
Sources in the Police says Mr Sireheti has resigned frustrated with the government and its inability to give him some of his entitlements outstanding since the year 2000.
Commissioner Sireheti's contract ended on September the 15th and was extended to await a new commissioner's arrival.
The British government will be funding a new commissioner, with seven applicants being shortlisted.
As the same time, senior police have written to the government disagreeing with the government's intention to hire a foreigner.
