The nine Provincial Premiers in the Solomons and the mayor of Honiara have called on the police to uphold the law as the Townsville Peace Agreement comes to an end.
The leaders have urged the police to show discipline, neutrality and professionalism.
The end of the term of the peace agreement also means the Peace Monitoring Council will be disbanded this week.
It will be replaced by a Peace and Justice Council
The Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation says the Council is to be set up by the government as an independent body to represent all the provinces.
