The Catholic church in Solomon Islands says it will hold a state funeral for the Cabinet Minister, Father Augustine Geve, who was shot dead while on a tour of his south Guadalcanal constituency.
Father Geve's body has yet to be recovered and a date for the funeral at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Honiara has not been set.
The church yesterday held a special mass for Father Geve.
He was the first Solomon Islander to be ordained as a Catholic priest in 1980.
