More industrial strife looms at Fiji's Air Pacific

More industrial strife may be looming at Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, only days after a 10-day strike ended last week.

The company has decided to stop deducting union dues from the pay of its employees.

It has also given an eviction notice to the Fiji Aviation Workers Association which has been occupying airline premises at Nadi Airport.

The association's general secretary, Attar Singh, says the union check-off system is its lifeline and has been in use since 1968.

He says there will never be industrial peace at Air Pacific if the company doesn't correct the check-off issue.
