Papuan rebels on the border of Papua New Guinea and the Indonesian province of Papua have warned they will resist any moves against them.
A spokesman for the Free Papua Movement, Anthony Wangbon, appealed to the PNG authorities to act as mediators rather than moving against them.
Tension in the border area has risen following a clash between the rebels and Indonesian security forces.
The Indonesian authorities say separatist rebels involved in attacks inside Papua are operating from camps on the PNG side of the border.
Mr Wangbon said the rebels would shoot to kill if PNG's security forces moved against them.
He said they would react in a similar manner if they were confronted by Indonesian security forces or what he said were Jihad fighters now in Papua.
