Fiji's former Police Commissioner, Isikia Savua will leave the country early next month to take up a posting as the country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations .

Mr Savua resigned last December.

The Daily Post reports that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Moses Driver, who is acting in Mr Savua's position is a likely contender for the post.

Mr Savua was appointed Deputy Police Commissioner in 1993 after resigning from the military.

He was then appointed as Commissioner in 1994.
