Violinist Amalia Hall is concertmaster of Orchestra Wellington – appointed to the role in 2016, making her the youngest concertmaster in New Zealand.

She’s also part of the new lineup of NZTrio, along with pianist Somi Kim, joining founder member Ashley Brown. Amalia’s just given some concerts with NZTrio, and on Saturday evening she plays Samuel Barber’s violin concerto with “her” orchestra and conductor Marc Taddei in Wellington.

David Morriss caught up with Amalia live in our Wellington studio, and asked her about her new role with NZTrio, her exciting international engagements, and playing the gorgeous Barber Violin Concerto.

Orchestra Wellington's concert Fanfare For The Common Man is on Saturday 19 October, 7.30pm, Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington
