7:00 - Michael Hill catch-up
The 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition concluded on the weekend. First prize went to Sergei Malov (Russia). Richard Lin (Taiwan/USA) was the second place-getter, and also the winner of the prize for best performance of the New Zealand commissioned work (the compulsory test piece in Round II). Past pieces have come from Gillian Whitehead, John Rimmer, David Farquhar, Ross Harris and Gareth Farr. This year it was:

7:20 - Two Boys
Nico Muhly (composer) and Craig Lucas (libretto) have created Two Boys, "a new opera that lifts the lid on the risks of life online". The première season with English National Opera opens in London on 24 June, and they've uploaded a publicity video (which The Guardian's Tom Service has criticised).
