Internationally acclaimed violinist Karen Gomyo joined the NZSO in August 2017 to perform Max Bruch’s incandescent Violin Concerto No 1 in G minor.
Having played the violin himself for many years, Bruch created a work that understands the idiosyncrasies of the instrument, composing a concerto of unequalled intimacy and exquisite beauty.
Gomyo’s 2017 performance received rave reviews, described as “a superb performance, one full of bite and passion” and “more than inspiring – she was spectacular”.
