Turmeric latte with cinnamon & black pepper

I can only drink one small coffee a day. Otherwise I’m just too wired and can’t function effectively. My second hot drink of the day is often a turmeric latte. Though caffeine-free, this drink is energising and deeply warming – not to mention beautiful to look at! The healing properties of turmeric, cinnamon and ginger deliver your body a heap of goodness in a deliciously spicy way. Black pepper helps your body absorb the turmeric better and adds a pleasant zing.
1 cup (250ml) unsweetened almond milk
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon finely grated, fresh ginger root
Generous pinch ground cinnamon
Grind of cracked black pepper
2 teaspoons good quality coconut oil
2 teaspoons coconut sugar / pure maple syrup / raw honey
Heat the almond milk until very hot but not boiling. Place in a blender along with the other ingredients. Blitz until frothy and the ginger and spices are thoroughly blended.
Serve immediately.
